5 Toxic Things You Should Leave in 2017

1- Leave Self Doubt
Do you consistently doubt yourself? Seriously, why?
You have been given talents and gifts that are unique to you! If you're in the habit of comparing yourself to others, you'll either fall short or always be ahead. And that's just not the way God intended you to function. He made you with purpose (Jeremiah 29:11) and with the abilities to accomplish that purpose. You just have to start believing it. Remember, God will always believe in you. The question for 2018 is, will YOU believe in you?

2- Leave Bad Choices & Mistakes
If there is one thing that every person has in common, it's that we have all made some bad choices and mistakes. If your 2017 was tainted with being less than perfect, then welcome to EVERY person's 2017! So if you're beating yourself up, stay reminded that God is merciful and forgiving (Daniel 9:9), and he forgives us whenever we ask (1John 1:9). Life will be full of times when we fall short. So learn to forgive yourself, let go of your guilt and move into God's grace in 2018.

3- Leave Negative Influences
Fact: There are people who will make you better and people who won't. And there's a time to stay clear of the ones who keep you from being all that you can be. You are worth more. You have great value. And you determine the level of standards for every relationship in your life. If it's the least bit negative or shady, let it go. Be strong and say goodbye to anyone who's bringing you down.
“The righteous person is a guide to his friend, but the path of the wicked leads them astray.” (Proverbs 12:26)

4- Leave Procrastination
There are times I struggle with procrastication. Maybe that’s you, too. If we're not careful, we'll always be "waiting" to accomplish something. Waiting for the perfect time, waiting for the best scenario, waiting to have all the information, waiting to have all the t's crossed and the i's dotted. I've learned with help from scripture that we waste time when we wait for everything to be ideal before starting. So to start this new year with a punch, get procrastination out of your vocabulary and make the most of the time you have been given. What are you waiting for? Ecclesiastes 11:4 says, “If you wait for perfect conditions, you will never get anything done.”

5- Leave Bitterness/Anger/Jealousy/Unforgiveness
How did those emotions work for you last year? Not so well? Do you want to carry that grudge with you into a brand new year? I'm thinking the answer is probably not. Holding on to anger, unforgiveness, jealousy, bitterness is like you taking poison and waiting for someone else to die. You...stay...miserable. Not the other person, but you! And although you may have not been able to control what someone else did to you, you can control what you do to them. Start this year by letting go of what has hurt you and focus on what can help you. Fill your mind with things that make you better not bitter. “In conclusion, my friends, fill your minds with those things that are good and that deserve praise: things that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, and honorable.” (Philippians 4:8)
